Adobe has announced a significant update to its editing software, Photoshop, placing a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence. The update introduces a new interface dedicated to AI tools and includes a range of improvements designed to simplify the editing process.
AI Tools in One Place
Adobe is rolling out the new interface, named AI Assisted Editor, as an optional beta feature. This interface consolidates various AI tools into a single toolbar within Photoshop, making them easily accessible.
Users can now quickly reach tools such as the text-command-based editor, background removal, and AI-powered expansion. These tools aim to help users perform advanced edits without needing to execute them manually.
Edit by Drawing on the
Adobe has introduced new ways to specify desired edits using AI through the Markup feature. This allows users to draw directly on the to indicate what they want the smart assistant to change.
Instead of relying solely on text commands, users can select specific areas to recolor, draw arrows to indicate positions, or sketch rough shapes to point out new elements they wish to add. This method offers a more direct way to guide AI tools, especially for edits that are difficult to describe accurately with text alone.
Smarter Edits with Masks
Adobe also unveiled an update to the Instruct Edit with Masks feature, which enables users to modify masks using natural language commands. The company explained that the Firefly model can now understand the full context of an , reducing the need to manually define every area for editing.
Instead of drawing a precise mask around each element, users can simply describe the desired change—such as opening a person’s closed eyes or adding a hat to their head—and the AI will execute the edit based on its understanding of the ‘s content and context.
