Fabio Capello has identified Roma as the primary threat to Inter’s Scudetto ambitions, praising the team’s seamless cohesion under Gian Piero Gasperini. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Roma coach highlighted the Giallorossi’s impressive form, which has seen them secure two consecutive 4-0 victories against Fiorentina and Lecce.
Capello's Warning: Roma Are Inter's Main Rivals
Capello, who last led Roma to a Serie A title, expressed caution about underestimating the capital club. “I would be very wary of Roma as Inter’s main rival for the Scudetto,” he stated. “What I saw yesterday in Lecce is nothing more than confirmation of what I had highlighted.”
The veteran coach emphasized that Roma have picked up exactly where they left off last season, showing no signs of integration issues. “Roma have essentially returned to playing as they finished last season: they have shown they have no integration issues, they don’t need to do anything different,” Capello explained.
Gasperini's Perfect Understanding with His Players
Capello was particularly effusive in his praise for Gasperini’s relationship with the squad. “Gasperini knows his players perfectly, and the players know the coach perfectly: they go onto the pitch and replicate what they did in the final stages of last season, when they came back to qualify for the Champions League,” he said.
