The Buffalo Bills were part of the NFL waiver wire conversation on Monday, but not because they made a move. When the waiver window opened at noon, all 32 teams had the chance to claim players cut from rosters a day earlier. The Bills, however, chose not to submit a claim for any player.
Bills Pass on Waiver Claims
Teams place claims in the same order as the 2026 NFL Draft, and Buffalo’s position at No. 26 likely influenced their decision. With a low priority, the Bills may have seen little value in putting in a claim, as higher-ranked teams would have had the first opportunity to match or beat any offer.
Browns Snag Bills' Seventh-Round Pick
While the Bills stayed quiet, their name still surfaced in waiver news. The Cleveland Browns, picking sixth, claimed cornerback Toriano Pride Jr., one of Buffalo’s 10 draft selections from the past spring. Pride was taken in the seventh round and was expected to land on the Bills’ practice squad. Instead, the Browns moved quickly to secure him.
Joint Practice Influence
Cleveland’s interest in Pride was no accident. Browns head coach Todd Monken acknowledged that the recent joint practice between the Bills and Browns played a role in bringing Pride to their attention. Monken explained how the cornerback’s name came up after the teams worked together on the field.
