Lazio Eye Swedish Wingers Bjerkebo and Madjed as Gudmundsson Move Stalls
With the transfer window set to close, Lazio are actively working behind the scenes to bolster their attacking options. While the club has been pursuing Fiorentina’s Albert Gudmundsson, the deal has hit a snag, prompting the Biancocelesti to explore alternative targets, including two promising Swedish wingers.
Lazio's Transfer Activity Intensifies

Sporting director Angelo Fabiani is working on multiple fronts with just over 24 hours remaining before the deadline. The club is still hoping to offload Matteo Cancellieri, whose contract is expiring, as his departure would free up space for a new arrival. Additionally, Boulaye Dia could also leave the attack, while Gennaro Gattuso has already confirmed Petar Ratkov’s imminent departure, presumably to Levante. The management is looking to round off the market with another attacking addition following Andrea Pinamonti’s arrival last week.
Gudmundsson Deal at Risk
Over the weekend, Fiorentina’s Gudmundsson emerged as a serious target for Lazio. The two clubs had reportedly agreed a loan move with an option to buy for a total of €15 million. However, according to several sources in the Italian media, including La Lazio Siamo Noi, the operation has encountered difficulties, although it has not completely fallen through.
Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina confirms that the two clubs have an agreement in place, but Lazio remain hesitant to proceed, as Gattuso prefers a different profile. It should be noted that the Icelandic international is originally a second striker, but can also feature on the wings, chiefly as an inverted left winger.
Lazio Rekindle Interest in Isak Bjerkebo
La Lazio Siamo Noi is also reporting the club’s interest in two young wingers, starting with Isak Bjerkebo. The 23-year-old has been on Lazio’s radar since the start of the summer, and the source believes Fabiani could launch a late onslaught to secure his services.
The Swede has been enjoying a stellar 2026, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in 18 appearances for his club Sirius, who have him under contract until December 2029. Transfermarkt estimates his value at €3.5 million.
Montader Madjed Also on Lazio Shortlist
The other name mentioned is Montader Madjed, a 21-year-old winger who has been at Hammarby since 2022. Like Bjerkebo, the youngster was born and raised in Sweden, representing the Scandinavian nation at the youth level. However, Madjed chose to play for his country of origin, Iraq, at the senior level, earning four international caps since making his debut in 2024.
Why Madjed Could Be More Suitable for Lazio
While Bjerkebo is a right-footed player who often plays on the left wing, Madjed is left-footed and thus prefers to play on the right, making him a more natural replacement for Cancellieri and a potential understudy for his compatriot Gustav Isaksen. His estimated value is also €3.5 million, and his contract is set to expire at the end of 2028.
