Strasbourg mounted a spirited comeback to defeat visiting Lens 2-1, with 20-year-old Moroccan forward Yassine Jassim scoring twice to overturn an early deficit. The result marked a first Ligue 1 victory for Portuguese coach Hugo Oliveira, who had suffered a heavy 0-4 loss to Marseille in his opening match.

Lens Takes the Lead Through Tovan's Penalty

Lens struck first in the 38th minute when Florian Tovan converted a penalty, netting his 100th league goal. The French striker continued his impressive start to the season, having already scored twice against Auxerre the previous week and adding the winning goal in the Champions Trophy against Paris Saint-Germain.

Jassim's Quick Response After the Break

Strasbourg equalized less than three minutes into the second half. Jassim opened his scoring account for the club with a shot that deflected off a defender after a pass from Swedish midfielder Sebastian Nanasi. The goal shifted momentum, though Strasbourg thought they had taken the lead in the 56th minute when Spanish defender Jacobo Ortega headed in, but the effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

Late Winner Seals First Victory

With five minutes remaining, Jassim struck again, meeting Nanasi’s cross with a precise finish at the far post. Lens nearly equalized immediately after, but a header from Mathieu Odoul bounced off the post, preserving Strasbourg’s win.

Other Ligue 1 Results

Elsewhere, Lyon continued their poor run with a 1-1 draw against Le Havre, three days after a 1-2 defeat to Fenerbahçe in Champions League qualifying. Newly promoted Troyes secured a valuable 2-1 away win at Lorient, moving them to third place temporarily with four points, behind Lille and Lyon on goal difference, ahead of Sunday’s matches including Paris FC vs. Nice, Rennes vs. Le Mans, and Monaco vs. Marseille. Angers claimed their first victory, beating bottom-placed Auxerre 3-1, while Brest fought back for a 2-2 draw at Toulouse.
